This Amersaham BioSciences Phast System consists of a separation and
control unit, and a development unit. With the proper gel separation
media ( i.e., IEF precast gels), accessories and a technical support
package you can form a system that obtains fast, high-resolution, and
reproducible results.

With the PhastSystem, isoelectronic focusing is as easy to perform as
gel electrophoresis; Coomassie staining is as easy as silver staining.
PhastTransfer onto immobilizing membranes is a simple technical
extension of the PhastSystem.

Electrophoresis is performed on a thermostatic plate capable of
maintaining temperatures accurately from 0 to +70 C. Multi-step
programming capability allows gels to be pre run, loaded and run
automatically. Controlled parameters include temperature, voltage,
current, power, and volt-hours. The whole idea behind the PhastSystem
is extreme ease of use and speedy runs. The stainless steel
development unit is capable of processing two gels simultaneously at
temperatures from ambient to +50 C. Up to nine different reagents can
be used in a single processing program.

These units are used, and have some flaws (broken plastic). They are
both in good operating condition. A manual and what you see in the
photos is included. The PhastSystem is currently supported by GE
Healthcare.
